Dear friends and supporters,
With the money you’ve raised, we’ve been able to research the effects of international financial institution investments in sexual and reproductive health and HIV/AIDS care with our partners at NAWAD. Our research has shown how obstacles to accessing reproductive health care and HIV/AIDS testing and treatment remain insurmountable for a large number of Ugandan women. We also been able to train NAWAD and share with them the tools they’ll need to train other groups to monitor healthcare investments and keep up the advocacy effort for more and better reproductive health and HIV/AIDS spending.
In October, Gender Action staff will travel to Japan for the Annual Meeting of the World Bank to present our final report and push for better and more funds for more and better spending on reproductive health and HIV/AIDS in Africa.
Our partners at NAWAD are planning a day-long workshop and event in western Uganda, including a radio broadcast, and together with other Ugandan activists will meet with Ugandan government officials to conduct further advocacy.
We will soon draw our GlobalGiving project to a close after these October events and use the remainder of your contributions to support NAWAD’s work. Stay tuned to this site in October 2012 for our final report on our advocacy at the World Bank and NAWAD’s activities in Uganda.
