Guadalupe has been studying at the RIA for the past month and a half. She told us that being in a group of women that wanted to study and be better, had totally changed the way she saw the world and felt about herself after a very difficult time, last year. She didn't want us to share her lastname nor picture with you, but this is what she told us about her life:
"After months of being abused in silence, I started worrying about my son. I took my stuff and left, I went to my mother's house who was sick. She hugged me and told me: 'As long as there is life there is hope'. A few days later I found a job as a housekeeper, my boss was very good, helped me when I needed something for my son. Then I coud start coming to the RIA, do something for myself. One day, I arrived smiling, and my son told me he was happy for me and that he hasn't seen me smile in a long time. That was a great feeling. I am 30 years, I'm a proud single mother ... I work and look after my mother and my son, and I learned that nobody is able to defeat us unless we give up fighting. Life can be hard, but a mother can get ahead always".
