life transforming support.
By simon ogwang | director of operation
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the donors who supported our "Empower School Dropouts for Self-Reliance" project through the GlobalGiving platform. The generous donations enabled us to offer vocational training, mentorship, and job placement assistance to 835 school dropouts in our community. Participants were trained in skills such as tailoring, carpentry, digital literacy, and entrepreneurship, which enhanced their employability and empowered them to start their own businesses. The support also helped reduce stigma and fostered community acceptance. Thanks to the donors' contributions, we have made a tangible difference in the lives of these youth, helping them achieve financial independence and a brighter future. We are grateful for the continued support of GlobalGiving and all the donors who believed in our mission.

Most of the youths in Northern Uganda are not absorbed in the formal employment sector because they lack the required academic credentials. Vocational skills program is the better alternative for young people to find an occupation.Vocational skills program is part of the Skilling School Dropout Adolescents for Self-Reliance project and provides the young beneficiaries with avenues for self-reliance resulting from economic empowerment upon completion of the training.
The initiative is in line with Vision 2040 of the Ugandan Government that sets out the importance of strengthening the fundamentals of the economy to exploit the abundant opportunities around the country. The project also falls in line with Sustainable Development Goals of ‘‘No Poverty’’ and ‘’Zero Hunger’’.
