Thanks to your generous contributions, this project was successfully funded!
On behalf of Hlomelikusasa, we would like to take this opportunity to extend a very warm thank you for supporting their work!
Hlomelikusasa, the Rural Women’s Development Group established in 1994, remains dedicated to addressing the needs and concerns of rural women. To date, Hlomelikusasa successfully works in 17 different communities throughout the regions of KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape of South Africa.
Because of generous donors like you, Hlomelikusasa has become deeply rooted in these communities and they have strengthened rural women’s leadership, provided training and resources for women to develop their business skills, know their rights and have improved their status in society.
Hlomelikusasa, whose name translates to “Skills for the Future”, is moving forward with great vigor and intrepidness to further rural women's empowerment and education through a coordinated network of small women’s groups in each community.
The credibility of Hlomelikusasa has been verifiably enhanced through better networking including participation in the KwaZulu-Natal Democracy Elections Forum (KZNDEF), the KwaZulu-Natal Civil Society Alliance (CSA), rural development and women’s advocacy networks such as the Commission on Gender Equality (CGE) and the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC).
Hlomelikusasa has fully demonstrated that they are capable of meeting challenges, as they possess the ability to achieve desired results in effective and efficient ways. The funds raised has gone exclusively towards the continuation of workshops and business training, mentorship services, and information dissemination that will ultimately promote the full recognition of rural women as equals in society.
Your support has helped tremendously to accelerate the process of women realizing their self-worth, giving them strength to improve productivity and alleviate poverty.
While we are no longer accepting donations for this current project, we invite you to join us in making change and success possible for others.
If you still have a strong interest in improving the well being of rural women and want to continue supporting projects that strengthen rural communities and reduce poverty, check out another amazing project here:
