A refugee is a person who has been forced to leave their country to flee conflict, violence, human rights violations and persecution.
At the end of 2021, 89.3 million people around the world had left their homes, looking for a safe place to live. Generating a growth of 8% in relation to the previous year and more than the double verified 10 years ago.
Due to the war in Ukraine, still in the first half of 2022, the number of people in forced displacement exceeded 100 million people!
June 20th is a day to reflect on how our society is progressing and our role as citizens. It is a day to reflect on peace. About rights and duties. About integration. About host. About respect. Being in refuge is not an option, but a necessary condition in favor of life.
