Compassiva during this quarantine period kept its programs in operation. Portuguese classes are being held online through WhatsApp. Despite the challenges that the pandemic brought us, each teacher strove to adapt the lessons in video format, so that our students would not be without their studies.
“Compassiva's volunteer teachers are often the first contact that refugees have with our work. In other words, they are the first step towards the bonds that are formed and, therefore, essential ”, says our coordinator of the LAR program (Taking Help to Refugees), which offers Portuguese classes for refugees in São Paulo.
There are currently 39 teachers and volunteer teachers at the head of the classes. In addition to online volunteer work, we were also able to offer deliveries of 8,443 Basic Baskets to Brazilian families, refugees and immigrants and Housing assistance for 86 refugee families.
We want to thank our volunteers who teach Portuguese at LAR (Taking Help to Refugees) and donors who in this period of so many difficulties have contributed to our project and benefiting thousands of families, your support makes all the difference, thank you very much!
