Dear Friends,
Greetings! We are excited to share with you the developments at Kupona and our sister organization, Comprehensive Community Based Rehabilitation in Tanzania (CCBRT) over the past few months. A lot has happened in the country with the loss of President Magufuli, the transition to a new Tanzanian leader under President Samia Suluhu, and a changing stance toward COVID.
Over the past few months, CCBRT conducted free glaucoma screenings during World Glaucoma Week and screened 200+ patients. CCBRT raised awareness of the risks and treatment of glaucoma. Additionally, for International Women’s Week, we offered free cervical cancer screening. We are able to provide these services because of the support we receive through GlobalGiving.
Last month, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Community Service and Development delegation in Tanzania led by the Tanzanian Minister of Health, Dr. Dorothy Gwajima, visited CCBRT to assess the facility’s work. She was accompanied by her deputy, Dr. Godwin Mollel, and other members of parliament. CCBRT’s Chief Executive Officer, Brenda Msangi, the Hospital Executive Committee, and staff showed them around CCBRT’s facilities, discussing work on advocacy and inclusion for people with disabilities.
I want to take this opportunity to thank you once again for your ongoing support. The important work that we do is impossible without your contributions.
Sincerely,
Susana Oguntoye
