SASANE’s Paralegal Training Program continues to be successful in Kathmandu, with our most recent group of women receiving the highest exam pass rate among our paralegal trainees to date. In addition, we have thirty new paralegal trainees ready to begin the program on August 20th. SASANE’s certified paralegals from previous trainees are currently working in police stations around Kathmandu Valley, and many have begun to take on educator roles in SASANE’s continued trainings.
Due to the continued success of this project, SASANE has decided to expand its Paralegal Training Program to Pokhara. Pokhara is one of Nepal's most beautiful cities, popular among tourists for its mountain views and lakeside attractions. Unfortunately, many women in Pokhara live in poverty and are exploited by the sex trafficking industry. SASANE has decided to combat sex trafficking in this area through our paralegal training program. Fifteen new paralegal trainees will be joining our program beginning August 20th, and we hope in the future to be able to fund the program in Pokhara for thirty trainees.
Our work is made possible only through the donations received through GlobalGiving. From these donations, we have been able to provide valuable training and sustainable employment for survivors of human trafficking. In turn, our paralegals are able to help other survivors navigate the legal system, preventing re-victimization and helping these women attain justice. With your help, we hope that we will be able to carry on this successful program and continue expanding it to other major cities throughout Nepal.
Thank you for your continued support.
