Scholarships for more girls to attend high school!

Students en route to high school!

Greetings from Mozambique!

This year got off to a challenging start, as the rainy season brought on severe flooding in mid-January in Mozambique, especially concentrated in Gaza Province where MSLI works. The flooding was caused by heavy rainfall throughout southern Africa, which led to unmanageable rises in the Limpopo River and its tributaries, which burst their banks and flooded surrounding areas, resulting in the worst flooding in the area since 2002. The start of the 2026 school year was delayed by a month due to these floods, but thankfully schools are now up and running.

This year, MSLI is supporting 256 students to attend high school via our school bus program - transporting students from their rural communities to the high school every day. In addition, as a new initiative this year, MSLI is providing scholarships for 18 students from very distant communities to reside in the Hokwe boarding house near the Hokwe high school, so that they can also pursue their studies. This scholarship is made possible thanks to supporters like you!

MSLI's approach is always dependent on the particular community and student needs. We believe that it's important to adapt to the circumstances, and that means that sometimes a school bus is the best solution, and sometimes it's a boarding house. The end goal is the same - that students are able to complete their education, creating the foundation for a better future. Thank you for being part of this journey!
