Dear Supporters,
Indigenous weaving is more than a craft. It carries generations of knowledge, cultural identity, and traditions that connect families to their communities and history. Yet for many Indigenous weaving families in Guatemala, Peru, and Mexico, preserving these traditions while earning a reliable income remains a daily challenge.
Many artisans face low payments from intermediaries, unpredictable sales, and limited access to the funds needed to purchase materials, tools, and supplies. These challenges make it harder for families to grow their businesses and plan for the future. Younger generations may also feel pressure to leave their communities in search of other economic opportunities, putting ancestral weaving traditions at risk.
Our project aims to help change these circumstances by supporting 150 Indigenous artisans and their families through a community-governed resilience fund, entrepreneurial training, and cultural immersion programs. The goal is to help artisans strengthen their livelihoods while ensuring that their cultural knowledge and skills continue to be valued and passed on.
Through access to working capital, artisans can work toward purchasing the materials and tools they need to produce and sell their textiles. Training in financial literacy, pricing, sales, and business management can help participants make informed decisions and explore additional sources of income. Cultural immersion programs also aim to create opportunities for artisans to share their traditions with visitors while generating income for participating communities.
Building these opportunities takes time and sustained investment. Access to funding alone cannot resolve every challenge artisans face, but it can provide an important starting point for strengthening their economic independence and supporting the continuation of their craft.
Help Us Reach Our $50,000 Goal
We are working to raise $50,000 to support Indigenous weaving families in Guatemala, Peru, and Mexico. Your donation can help make resources, training, and new income opportunities more accessible to the artisans participating in this project.
Every contribution brings us closer to supporting the people who keep these traditions alive. Your generosity can help artisans invest in their work, strengthen their businesses, and create more opportunities for younger generations to learn and practice ancestral weaving.
Will you make a donation today? Whether you give a small amount or are able to contribute more, your support can help move this project forward. Please consider donating and sharing this project with others who believe that Indigenous artisans deserve fairer economic opportunities and that cultural traditions should be preserved for generations to come.
Together, we can help Indigenous weaving families build more sustainable livelihoods while protecting the cultural knowledge woven into every piece they create.
Thank you for your support.
