The fall is traditionally the time when Haiti Projects sells many of its handmade products to the public through holiday sales. As people prepare for the holidays, we find that more and more people want to give gifts that mean something more, gifts that have a story, and that benefit a larger group of individuals. These types of purchaces, socially-conscious purchases, do good while giving. Even a gift as small as a lavendar sachet sends a message of suport and encouragement to the women in rural Haiti.
This month, Haiti Projects will open two new stores where customers can learn about and buy products all year long! Haiti Projects' Massachusetts office at 136 Rantoul Street, Beverly, MA has been transformed into a store that is open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays to the public. Customers can browse products, get updates on our new products, and learn about what's new at Haiti Projects.
1000 miles away in sleepy rural Haiti, our other new store will debut. Haiti Projects will open a store in Fond des Blancs, Haiti, that will showcase to toursists visiting the area, the unique skills and the exquiste handmade products of the area. The new store will feature items not available in the US, including new test items. In addition, visitors will be offered a chance to tour our workshops where they can interact with the artisans.
Of course, we continue to invite customers to visit our on-line store (www.haitiprojecgs.org).
If together we can build a strong customer base for the products produced at the artisanat, we believe that we can hire more women, and that we can grow the existing economy in rural Haiti one hand embroidered item at a time. We hope that fall in Massachusetts and fall in rural Haiti will bring customers and new supporters to our doorsteps.
