Thanks to donations, 3 new industrial-strength sewing machines arrived in Fond des Blancs, Haiti this week. These new sewing machines will replace a few of our broken machines and will be used to create a new line of wine bags to be sold in California Wine Country. The wine bags are made of an off-white durable canvas. We have 100 orders for these bags and are hoping for many more. The revenue that we generate from this project will support the 100 women plus a few more, as we expand operations and move toward sustainability.
Second, we were able to promote two of our women, Carole and Venithe, to supervisor level. Carole oversees the Haiti Projects Inc. store in Fond des Blacs that sells our handmade products to visitors. Venithe supervises the knitters who make the handknit baby and children’s organic cotton sweaters that have been selling fast. You can take a peek at these beautiful sweaters here for purchase: http://haiti-projects-3.myshopify.com
