Pad Project Update

By Ferry Cadet | Country Director

The pad project continues to be a success story for us at Haiti Projects. Since October, we have produced an additional 5,000 pads, trained 30 women, employed 20 women, and sold over 1500 pads! As production moves ahead, we are now moving into the awareness phase of this project. The plan is to sell and donate our pads to local and surrounding areas of Fond des Blancs. We’ve found 10 women whom we call our pad ambassadors that are interested in selling the pads in rural markets. Each will be given 50 packs of pads as well as menstruation and sanitary pad brochures to educate women about menstruation. If instructions from the brochure are properly followed, each pad should last about 6 months to 1 year! Additionally, we plan to distribute about 2500 to 3000 pads to the surrounding communities. Not only will we also hold giveaways for several weeks to women on market day, we will also donate to women and girls who participate in our multiple projects such as the soccer girls on our teams, women who attend our family health clinic, and our Artisan women.
