In January, the Haiti Projects women artisans gathered for a professional development seminar. They were asked what was working, not working and how we could improve working conditions. Many of the women were thrilled with their new workshop space. Clarisse, talked about the importance lighting and ventillation. Marte talked about about getting used to the modern facilities, especially the toilettes and automatic lights. Otheres spoke about the need to learn new rules about keeping spaces and places clean. A few artisans, however, mentioned that they had to get used to going to a new location and that they had to get used to all working together, instead of being separated into different buildings. Our professional development team from Haiti, Ginette and Yanick, took much care to help the women work through the many changes that moving to a new space can bring. We expect that as we settle into our new space, that all will benefit from the upgrade.
