Empower 200 Girls in NYC with Education and Sport

This year, we aim to provide up to 465 spaces for girls and young women from NYC in our programs.

• ENROLLMENT GOAL REACHED IN Q1! 170 girls ages 6-18 will participate in our I Can Excel (ICE) school-year program from October to May. During the school year, girls spend 4-5 days per week engaged in tutoring, academic enrichment classes, leadership classes, skating, fitness conditioning, and periodic cultural field trips. Middle and high school students receive guidance and workshops to prepare them for success in high school and college, an annual Career Week, and college and company visits. Spring/Summer Skate and extended academic programming will serve 130 of these girls.
• 35 girls ages 6-14 will be served in Winter Dreams from December to March, where they will receive skating instruction and personal development guidance around the FSH creed.
• ACCOMPLISHED in Q1! 55 girls ages 6-14 were served in Summer Dreams in July and August, where they received 32 hours per week of reading support, STEAM activities, fitness conditioning, and skating instruction, along with weekly cultural/educational field trips.
• 75 FSH alumnae ages 18-30 will be reached by Pipeline 2 Power (P2P),including a range of college success and career development activities, throughout the year.

So far this year, our girls have:

• Traveled to South Africa as cultural ambassadors in July!
• Visited a Harlem small business during Summer Dreams
• Opened Wollman Rink in Central Park for the season
• Started academic programming with Debate prep
• and much more!

We're also SO PROUD of our alumnae at Howard University, who have gone on to found the country's FIRST EVER HBCU (historically black college/university) skating club!
