As we ponder our resolutions for the new year, we can’t help but reflect on the incredible journey that was 2018! With your support, we saw our Enterprise program grow to include 11 more countries and 28 new Enterprises, equipping local women (and some men!) with the resources and trainining needed to earn additional income and promote long-lasting, environmentally-friendly menstrual health solutions for the women and girls in their communities. In just 12 months, our Africa programs sold more than 35,505 DfG Kits and donated tens of thousands more to girls and women in need of sustainable menstrual solutions. Your dedidcation to DfG's mission, combined with incredible teamwork, planning, evaluation, and hours in the field made all of this possible!
And we have even more in store for 2019. This year opens up a whole new horizion of opportunities and initiatives. We are doubling down on our commitment to monitoring & evaluation in order to ensure we are serving the women and girls we reach in the best way we can.
The West Africa team is poised to travel around the region supporting new Enterprises and reaching girls in brand new communities – including countries like Togo, Senegal, and Burkina Faso, to name a few.
The East Africa Team is gearing up for a large school-based pilot that will see thousands of girls participating in menstrual health clubs and partnering to improve menstrual hygiene practices and infrastructure.
Meanwhile, in South Africa, Enterprises are forging ahead to advocate for menstrual health policies in the government, including the adoption of a standard for washable pads in both South Africa and Swaziland. We are grateful for partners like you that make all of this work possible; together, we plan to make 2019 a year to remember!
