Sometimes, what may seem like an ordinary activity to many children can become a lasting memory for a girl living in a vulnerable situation.
In the community learning center in Pamplona Alta, San Juan de Miraflores, 30 girls participated in “Playing and Caring for My Health: Olympics,” a special activity designed to promote physical activity, healthy habits, and the values of sports.
They ran, played, laughed, and worked as a team. But above all, they had the opportunity to experience something different: to take part in an Olympics, play together, and feel like the protagonists of a day created especially for them.
One of the girls told us:
“I felt very happy because my mom came to watch me participate in the games. My mom encouraged me when it was my turn to play. I had a lovely day.”
Another girl shared:
“I like coming here, I feel good, I learn, and I loved that they held Olympics this year. The best part was that we all played together, as a team.”
Their words remind us that the right to play is also part of a dignified childhood. For the girls we accompany, these spaces are about much more than having fun: they are opportunities to build confidence, connect with other girls, discover new abilities, and simply enjoy being children.
At AGTR, we work so that girls in Pamplona Alta can grow with more opportunities and remain protected from situations of child domestic labor that can put their education and development at risk.
Your donation can help more girls experience moments like this. It can help make possible a workshop, a space to play, a learning experience, or simply the opportunity to enjoy a childhood that deserves joy too. Help us continue creating these moments.
Donate and be part of the opportunities we are building for them.
