Empower Fisher & Landless Communities in Odisha

Over the past year, your support has brought remarkable change to communities deeply affected by poverty, climate change and exclusion. Together with our local partner RCDC, here’s what we have achieved so far:

• Over 160 thousand trees planted (Casuarina, Mangrove and more) — protecting the coastline and creating future income.
• 500 families supported with nutrition gardens — improving food security and reducing market dependency.
• 2,250 households supported with alternative livelihoods — from goat rearing to dry fish processing, earning an extra £20–£30 per month.
• Padma Udaya Jibika Producer Company strengthened — 250 shareholders, new spice and fish processing units and partnerships for women-led business growth.
• 62 Women’s Self-Help Groups formed — creating a powerful platform for women’s voices and leadership.
• Shram Bank established — a community-owned safety net offering fair credit during emergencies.
• Tourism exploitation reduced — through online booking systems led by women and fisherfolk federations.

This is not just about livelihoods. It’s about building confidence, leadership, and resilience — and creating pathways for women and communities to thrive in harmony with their fragile environment.

What’s next?

Our journey continues as women now take the lead in running their Producer Company, expanding markets, strengthening environmental protection and shaping local development.
