Empower Displaced Women in Goma with Skills

Project Context:
Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo has been severely affected by armed conflicts, displacing thousands of women and girls. In the camps of Goma, they live in precarious conditions, without income, education, or psychological support. Many are survivors of violence and face deep distress. Without access to skills or work, these women remain trapped in poverty, unable to rebuild their lives or care for their children.

Project Objectives:
This project aims to:

• Train 100 displaced women in basket weaving and sewing.
• Create cooperatives to support production and sales.
• Provide psychosocial support to restore confidence and self-esteem.
• Enable women to earn sustainable income and reintegrate socially and economically.

Expected Impact:
Through this project, beneficiaries will be able to:

• Gain stable employment and financial independence.
• Actively participate in local economies and children’s education.
• Become agents of change within their communities.
• Contribute to peacebuilding and social reconstruction in the region.

Current Phase:

• Identification of qualified trainers and participants.
• Project launch planned for November 2025.
• Total project budget: $15,000.
