Beyond Funding: When Expertise Enters the Classroom
When people think about corporate partnerships with nonprofits, they often think of funding or scholarships.
And while financial support is essential,we are also seeing a growing number of partners contribute something equally powerful—their professional knowledge, skills, and resources.
When expertise meets real educational needs, it opens up entirely new possibilities for learning.
A Letter That Opens Up New Possibilities
What if children could explore different careers—simply through a conversation?
Through TFT’s Pen Pal Program with EY Taiwan, employees exchange letters and drawings with students, sharing stories about their work and daily lives.
From these exchanges, children begin to see:
What does a career in accounting look like?
What does a workday feel like?
What paths could their future take?
Later, at in-person meetups, these connections come to life.
Students learn financial literacy through interactive games, engage directly with professionals, and even visit Taipei 101— seeing the city from above, and imagining their own future within it.
For the professionals involved, their expertise becomes more than a skill— it becomes a way to inspire the next generation.
Meeting Real Needs: When Resources Support the Journey
In many rural and underserved areas, distance and transportation are real barriers to education.
Through support from Ford Philanthropy, TFT fellows are able to travel safely across challenging terrain, reaching communities that would otherwise be difficult to access.
These vehicles are more than transportation— they make it possible for teachers to stay, and for students to access learning beyond the classroom.
Bridging the Digital Divide Through Technology
In a post-pandemic world, the digital divide has become even more visible.
Through partnerships with Dell Technologies, TFT has helped establish learning centers in schools across southern Taiwan, providing students with access to digital tools and resources.
But the impact goes beyond hardware.
Through workshops on computer science, hands-on activities like disassembling computers, and career-sharing sessions with tech professionals, students begin to explore technology not just as users— but as creators.
They learn to think, question, and experiment— like scientists.
Growing Together, Through Partnership
Through these collaborations, children gain access to richer, more diverse learning experiences.
At the same time, organizations like TFT are able to operate with greater stability and trust, continuing to expand their impact.
Because when different sectors come together— education does not just improve.
It transforms.
