Dear Friends,
During the 2nd term holiday, Joy for Children Uganda continued working with women, teenage mothers, and children in Bukooto, Bwaise, and Kivulu. We reached 130 children, 150 women, and 30 teenage mothers through community engagements, household visits, sensitization sessions, mentorship, discussions, and recreational activities. The sessions focused on child protection, children’s rights, discipline, education support, family empowerment, disability awareness, GBV, digital safety, parenting, personal safety, and available support services.
One of the key engagements was with teenage mothers through household visits and sensitization sessions. This created an opportunity for them to openly share some of the challenges they are facing, including financial difficulties and mental health concerns. We also engaged children on their rights, how to report violations, child protection, and responsible use of social media and digital platforms. The children actively participated in the discussions and shared their experiences about how they are treated at home and within their communities.
The engagements created safe spaces for children, women, and teenage mothers to ask questions, share their experiences, and learn from one another. We were encouraged by the active participation of the children and the willingness of parents and teenage mothers to openly discuss issues affecting their families. Through these activities, we continue to create spaces where children are protected, heard, and supported, while empowering families and communities to play their part in their well-being.
We thank you for your Support and for making all this possible through the donations you send to support our work.
