Karigari Program of Literacy India helps to improve the status of women / Youth in society by providing them with livelihood options through vocational training in the areas, based on beneficiaries’ preferences and aptitude:

  • Computer literacy allows beneficiaries to have careers in IT related fields like BPO Centers, Data Processing Units and lately in UID centers etc especially at our centers in the cities like Delhi, Gurgaon & Kolkata and creating entrepreneurs. 
  • Stitching, Embroidery, Beauty Culture, Block Printing, Tie & Die etc  allows beneficiaries to have employment in the garment industry or set up their own stitching and tailoring units. 
  • Vocational training in driving allows beneficiaries to have careers as drivers in automobile, transport and travel industry or seek self-employment as professional drivers
  • Community based skills- Home stay, kitchen gardening, Organic farming empowering beneficiaries to sustain in their community.

 Activity conducted

The activities are to be carried out in following manner:

  • Survey conducted of the Existing areas and adjacent areas from where the youth can come to access the centre’s services & Enrolment
  • Mapping & assessing the existing skills among youth beneficiaries in computers. Syllabus / Module curated for each beneficiary accordingly.
  • Preparation of Lesson Plans for each Module
  • Implementing it in the class-room activities
  • Mock presentation and Mock interview organized by volunteers and professional consultant
  • English classes and personality development sessions held
  • Quarterly evaluations conducted
  • Exposure visit of the trainee to corporate organization and session on IT dissemination from IT team of Corporate Partners
  •  Preparation for NIELET examination( govt certified) and final exam held
  • Assistance for placement support provided

 

Personality development & Grooming session by Professional Trainers

Literacy India engaged professional trainers to  imparting Personality development  and Life Skill coaching to students. Various topics were covered in the trainings like grooming, personal hygiene, etiquettes, mannerisms,  interview skill and  work culture at job place.

 Impact of our Programs On Youth

In addition to IT  skills it is essential to work on behavioral skills and mindset of the students.  Our  experimental, interactive and participatory programs developed skills for jobs and focus on building confidence, positivity and openness to learning and work culture of service industry.

Name :   Manish ( Name Change) Location Delhi

Manish  can be easily spotted in the classroom, among the other students due to his vivacious nature. “But one year ago he was not the same, he used to hide seeing a stranger”, says his faculty. 27 year old young boy  lived in Bijwasan Delhi with his younger brother and mother. 

He  completed his CCA program with  literacy India and also parallelly  completed Tally . After completion of program he appeared for an interview in Gurgoan . he cleared his interview  in one shot , and currently working Dharma Industrial . he is able to earn 12000 pee month and supporting his family.  

After the 6 months  programme, Manish   felt that  he had to develop his communication skills.“I was an introvert, and I used to spend most of my time at home. After joining the course, I made friends at the center, and I found an environment where I could speak to people in English without being judged ” he says.
