As we get to the end of the year, it is a time to reflect on the milestones that have been made through your support. WISER’s model, through our flagship program WISER girls Secondary School aim is to produce educated female leaders in a rural community who will change the social and economic trajectory of their community and this number increases annually. In November, another cohort of 53 girls completed their four years of study and sat for their national exams. They will be transitioning to higher institutions of learning next year, providing an opportunity for them to gain skills in different careers and positioning them to be competitive in the job market.
In addition, over 40 alumnae graduated from the university. One of them who attained a 1st Class Honours in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering stated, “WISER Girls played a major role in shaping the person I am today and in every achievement I have made so far. WISER was not just a place where I studied—it was a home, a foundation, and a turning point in my life.
WISER believed in me at a time when many girls from backgrounds like mine often face barriers to education. WISER introduced me to a world of possibilities. Through strong science programs and mentorship. I developed a passion that eventually led me to pursue a degree in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering. WISER planted the dream and gave me the courage to chase it.”
An impact study conducted for the WISER alumnae demonstrated that those who have transitioned from higher institutions of learning and are working in different fields. are earning 5–10× or more than local income levels. Moreover, 91% of them are supporting someone else in their family and 51% are supporting over 5 community members hence breaking the cycle of poverty and driving change in their communities.
Thank you for believing in WISER, thank you for transforming the lives of the WISER girls.
Happy holidays.
