Summary

This project will provide fruits trees to the 15,000 agroforestry farmers in the community of Korogwe District, There will be agricultural advancements as there has been high poverty levels and lack of enough food in Korogwe local community, Through this project there will be establishment of 2000 local gardens for local community and 2000 vegetables garden for the schools, the project to be carried out by 4,000 women and this project will ensure sustainable income to women, local community.

Challenge

Vast deforestation activities taking place in the community of Korogwe district forests has been a driving factor towards decreasing of food crop production to wards and villages in Korogwe District community.According to records at Korogwe District there has been 30% decrease of food crop production due to climate since 2010. A population of 25,000 local community members of Korogwe district villages and wards are suffering from poor and low crop food production, poor water sanitation.

Solution

This project will focus on planting 20,000 native species at Korogwe District forest and 15,000 fruits trees through agroforestry practices and 4000 farmers will be involved in the project, the aim is to increase soil productivity, boosting nutrition and economic growth through fruits trees program .Also the project will provide 4,000 organic food and vegetables gardens to 4,000 women to increase nutrition and food availability to local communities and schools as well as economic opportunities.

Long-Term Impact

The project will boost 25000 communities members with training and education activities regarding food crop production, agroforestry practices and forest reforestation practices. Also through restoration of 8 natural water sources the local community will benefit through irrigation and domestic use and reduce water borne diseases as result of safe and clean water availability. We also focus on gender equality and equal participation through raining to 5,000 women on tree nursery preparation.
