Project Progress Report - June 2026

By Alfred Lugela | Project Leader

Dear Donors and Supporters,

Warm greetings from Tanzania.

We would like to sincerely thank all our supporters for your continued interest in our project, Provide Income to 250 Youth by Recycling in Tanzania. Although this reporting period has been challenging, we remain committed to our mission of creating employment opportunities for youth through plastic waste collection and recycling while protecting the environment.

Current Project Status

Since our previous report, we regret to inform you that no new field activities have been implemented due to the continued lack of financial resources. Unfortunately, we have not received sufficient donations to enable us to restart the planned project activities, including the establishment and operation of plastic waste collection centers, procurement of equipment, and community outreach programs.

Despite this situation, the project has not been abandoned. NESODO continues to maintain communication with the community groups that were formed under the project. The youth and women involved remain interested and ready to resume activities as soon as resources become available.

Continued Engagement

Although direct implementation has been paused, we have continued to:

  • Maintain contact with community groups and project beneficiaries.
  • Engage local stakeholders and recycling partners to keep collaboration opportunities open.
  • Share environmental awareness messages through community discussions and social media platforms.
  • Explore potential funding opportunities and partnerships that could help revive project activities.

Challenges

The main challenge remains the lack of funding. Without operational resources, we are unable to:

  • Reopen and expand plastic waste collection centers.
  • Purchase essential equipment such as gloves, weighing scales, and collection bags.
  • Conduct training and awareness activities for youth and women.
  • Support transportation and operational costs associated with waste collection and recycling.

Looking Ahead

Our vision remains unchanged. Once funding is secured, we plan to:

  • Reactivate the six community groups already established.
  • Resume plastic waste collection and recycling activities.
  • Expand participation among youth and women.
  • Strengthen partnerships with recycling industries.
  • Continue creating green income opportunities while reducing environmental pollution.

Call for Support

We kindly appeal to our supporters and friends of this project to help us restart this important initiative. Even a small donation can contribute toward purchasing equipment, supporting collection centers, and helping young people earn income through environmental conservation activities.

You can also support us by sharing this project with your friends, colleagues, organizations, and networks.

Appreciation

Although progress has slowed due to funding constraints, our commitment to empowering youth and protecting the environment remains strong. We deeply appreciate your past support and hope that together we can revive this initiative and continue transforming plastic waste into economic opportunities for Tanzanian youth.

Thank you for standing with us.
