Keep safe 2000 girls at risk of FGM in rural Kenya

This report highlights some of our experiences empowering and supporting girls at risk of FGM in Kuria.

During this period our work involved supporting referrals for girls of sexual violence,supporting school going girls with menstrual care essentials and carrying out mentorship sessions for vulnerable girls in schools to create access to information on sexual Reproductive Health and Rights.

From recent statistics Kenya has been ranked 3rd highest globally in teenage pregnancies and Sexually Transmitted infections.Teenage preganancies increases when girls  are denied the right to make decisons about their Sexual Reproductive Health and  well-being.

Now more than ever girls need to have access to SRHR .During this reporting period we carried out mentorship sessions for vulnerable girls in schools so that they can have the right information to make healthly decisons about their health and well-being.

We also distributed menstrual packages to girls,our menstrual packages included "(soap,tissues,panties and sanitary pads).By providing menstrual health care packages girls are able to stay in school,comfortable,reducing their risks of FGM,Child Marriage ,sexual violence etc

In addition we supported referalls for girls at risk of violence and survivors of violence,we provided transport,clothing,medical care,shelter,food,attended court sessions and follow-ups at the police stations.

This support has gone along way for vulnearble girls in Kuria.We look forward to sharing more on our social media platforms
