Our Students comes out with flying colors, Thanks!

By Dr. Shibu Shankaran | Project Leader

Dear Friends!!

We at Kasturba Sevikashram School are extremely proud of our students who completed their 10^th and 12^th board exams with good scores.

The Kasturba Sevikashram HSS boasts a 100% pass result at the 12^th standard Higher Secondary Examinations conducted in March 2019. For this year’s exam we also saw an increase in the number of students appearing for the exam- 37 students as compared to the 29 in 2018. Our next step is to provide them with the required guidance to choose colleges and training classes so that they can get into the career-paths of their choice. Few of them are going ahead for vocational training with the Caterpillar company.

This year the pass percentage for the 10^th standard SSLC exam was 84%. The students who cleared the exam will move on for preparations for higher secondary and those who didn’t will be given the required attention so that they too can progress on their second attempt.

We owe this success to our hardworking faculty who spent much time preparing add-on notes, revising lessons with the students and providing extra-classes when necessary. Exam time is stressful time for both the students and teachers alike; the exam-related counselling sessions held were widely appreciated and positive feedbacks were received.

Like always we deeply value your continued support. Thank you for helping us build a better tomorrow for our students.

Thank you !! for every contribution......

Sevikashram girls looks forward

By Dr. Shibu Shankaran | Project Leader

Sports Day Winners

Sevikashram's mission is to empower women and girl children with education and life-skills for them to live a respectable life in the society. Kasturbha Sevikashram understands the importance of incorporating leisure into education. To encourage physical activities and sports talents, activity days are held throughout the year.

The annual Sports Day of all the education institutions under Gandigram Trust was held on February 9^th, 2019. Fun games and races were held for students of all age groups. The students showed much enthusiasm to participate and win prizes. This was also an opportunity to impart on them values such as team spirit, leadership and determination.

The students of Sevikashram conducted Science Fair which was attended by 150 students of neighbouring two schools. The students enjoyed the fun experiments and interacting with peer group while learning the concepts of science in real life.

Following the Caterpillar’s ‘Learn and Earn’ program held on February 6^th, the Caterpillar team visited Sevikashram on February 19^th. The program aims to help deserving student candidates make small earnings along-side their higher education. Twelve girls from Sevikashram participated for the program; we are happy to inform that nine girls were selected to join on completing the higher secondary education and the remaining three were given conditional offers subjected to meeting certain academic/ health related criteria. We hope to extend these opportunities to more students in the coming academic years.

Examination period is a mentally draining time for all students; to lighten the burden of upcoming X^th and XII^th board exams, we organised motivational talks this month for the students on dealing with exam stress, time management and so on.

Our teachers and staff actively visit the villages to talk to parents and potential students about the goals of Sevikashram and the activities that happen there. We hope this encourages more admissions to the various classes.

The Sevikashram team strives daily to provide a nurturing upbringing for our students and residents. We are extremely grateful for your contribution and expect your continued support in future.
