Empower 175 students for food security in Kenya

By Lucy Mathenge | Project Assistant

Greetings and Happy New Year to our friends, donors and well-wishers.  I start by appreciating everyone for the great support given to our youths’ project through this platform.  Thank you for being part of many success and achievements we have achieved this far.  Our project has been on going and our beneficiaries are safe, strong and healthy despite the many challenges.  Students are resuming schools this first week of January 2022 after short December holiday.  I have already been informed that most youths in polytechnics have already done their year planning for their agribusiness project and others will be doing so once they all resume.  The first three months of the year are generally dry and hot where agribusiness members are planning to prepare their gardens, do repair for the fences where need be and source planting materials.  We expect to receive list of items they require from us and we will definitely support them.  Due to challenges in the last school term, we were not able to conduct training sessions for the teachers as earlier reported but planning to do so in the course of the term.  We also expect new students to join the club and we will as well conduct training sessions to benefit all club members in all institutions.  We are positive and optimistic that the year will be more fruitful to all us including our well-wishers so that they can continue supporting our projects.  The weather as well we hope and pray that it will be favorable to enable farmers meet their targets.

As a result of the pandemic, many businesses were really affected where many were closed down.  This came at a time when our agribusiness members wanted to venture into businesses and especially agribusiness.  They have been seeking advices from us as many wanted to have physical business areas to display their products after production but we have been advising them to hold but continue operating their agribusinesses even without physical products outlets.  Having this in mind, we remain positive that situation will improve and things will shape up then from there we will support our members with business ideas and any other support that we will manage. Once again thank you for the continued support and we invite you to walk the long journey with us.
