Empower 175 students for food security in Kenya

Another school term has started and we are optimistic that the term will be smooth without any interruptions in either way.  The covid 19 cases has reduced in the country and we pray that learning institutions will not be affected in any way with learners, teachers and other staff remaining safe throughout the school term.  Our agribusiness clubs are ready to move on with their project activities, they have been on holiday since April.  Before proceeding for the holiday, they prepared their farms in readiness for planting during the rainy season.  Since they reported back in January, they have been doing various project activities among them repair and maintenance as well as preparing their farms, seeds and planting materials preparation and sourcing.  Due to covid 19 measures given by the ministry of health, we were not allowed to visit the polytechnics but we have been in touch with club patrons for updates and support for their requests.  Late arrival of rains during this season favoured them as they were on holiday in April when they were expected to be busy in their school gardens but due to late rains their activities were not affected.  They are now busy planting their gardens and we are happy we managed to support them with seeds and other planting materials and they were very greatful, they extended their appreciation to all who have generously contributed for their needs and requests.

During this school term, we will continue monitoring their progress through their patrons as we will not visit the institutions due to the restrictions as a result of covid 19.  Through generous support given to us through GlobalGiving platform, we are in a position to inculcate agricultural skills to our youths.  Apart from the skills gained in their various courses we are integrating agribusiness skills in them thus increasing their capacity and preparing them to be dependent through self-employment.  On their behalf we appreciate the support given to them and great contribution in improving living standards.  Thank you so much and together let’s continue supporting our youths.
