By Bonnie Mendes | Project Leader
Shazia is a resident of Bonnieabad and a mother of four children. She
joined the Sewing Centre with the hope of
learning a new skill and improving her family’s future. Before joining the
centre, she had limited opportunities to earn an income or develop her
skills.
During the sewing training, Shazia learned cutting, stitching, and different
sewing techniques. She showed great interest and dedication throughout
the course and successfully completed her training. The skills she gained
have increased her confidence and helped her become more
independent.
After completing the course, Shazia is now able to sew clothes for her children and hopes to use her skills to
support her family through home-based sewing work. She shared that the training has brought a positive
change in her life and made her feel more confident.
Shazia is thankful to the Society for Human Development for establishing the Sewing Centre in her area and
providing women with opportunities to learn valuable skills. She also appreciates the support of the Italian
friends, especially Chris, for their care and encouragement.
The Sewing Centre has become a place where women can learn, build confidence, and move towards a more
independent and empowered future.
