My name is Kanza, and my husband Akash, works as a laborer at a brick kiln. I also work alongside him every day to help support our family. Despite our hard work and long hours under difficult conditions, it has always been challenging to provide a better life for our children and fulfill even their basic needs.
Life at the brick kiln is full of hardship, exhaustion, and uncertainty. Every day we work tirelessly just to earn enough for food and daily expenses. As parents, we always worried about our children’s future and dreamed of giving them opportunities we never had ourselves.
When the Society for Human Development established a sewing center in our area, it brought new hope into my life. I decided to join the training center despite my busy routine at the kiln. Every day, after finishing my labor work, I attend sewing classes with dedication and enthusiasm. Slowly and patiently, I am learning cutting, stitching, and tailoring skills that can help me build a better future for my family.
As a mother of two sons, I feel proud and excited that one day I will be able to stitch clothes for my children with my own hands. Currently, I am receiving training in cutting and sewing men’s garments, and with each passing day my confidence is growing stronger. This skill is not only teaching me tailoring but also giving me self-respect, independence, and courage to dream bigger.
My goal is to start earning through sewing so that I can financially support my husband and reduce the burden of brick kiln labor on our family. I hope that in the future I can open a small tailoring business from my home and provide a better education and healthier life for my children. For the first time in many years, I feel hopeful about changing our circumstances and moving toward a more stable and dignified life.
I am sincerely thankful to SHD for empowering women like me through skill development opportunities. This sewing center has not only taught us vocational skills but has also restored confidence and hope in our hearts. Through this initiative, many women are now believing that they too can become independent, support their families, and create a brighter future for their children.
