"Like me many other girls are getting benefit with your kind and generous financial support", expressed Tasleem joyfully this fact. She said, "Last year I got skilled in a vocational center established by Jaag Welfare Movement under the Project (Empower 100 Child Brides in Pakistan) and in last quarter on the basis of my performance in the training, I was selected trainer for the newly opened Vocational Center in my village".

Tasleem said, "My age is now 25 years and I was married when I was just 14. I have 3 Children and my husband was narcotics addicted and died before the birth of my 2 years old son. After his death, I faced many problems and I thought to commit suicide many times but innocence of my children ever stopped me. I attended the Women day Seminar in 2015 in Jaag Welfare Movement and met with the team and discussed the problem.

She said, “I was morally encouraged and get strengthen for my children’s best future. I was given a chance to complete 4 months course of Sewing and embroidery and showed excellence”. The Project provided me a sewing machine and started to sew clothes. I was very happy to find sufficient money for living. Then I think that it will be more good that other girls learn this skill.

She explained, “Then I formed a community group and discuss in the group that if we arrange sewing machines ourselves then we will request to Jaag for provision of some assistance. Jaag agreed and gave me 4 month salary along with some operational and material expanses. Every student brought her sewing machine and I taught and continued stitching the clothes and coordinated with tailors and boutiques for Eid-ul-Fitar(Festival) business.

She appreciated the efforts of Project (Empower 100 Child Brides in Pakistan), Now more than 10 students of mine are sewing clothes and earning their pocket money for their own clothes and other expanses and all this made possible with your generous support”.

She aimed, “I and my students will fight with worst customary practices but the rural dynamics and thoughts regarding the events of child marriage are different from urban areas. There is no complaint mechanism to report such events”.

She informed, “Now there are some increments in punishments for Child Marriage and it is a good sign to combat or minimize occurrence of Child Marriage.”

She wished that this project may spread to other far flung areas especially in Indus River area, where the occurrence of Child Marriage is very high. We will work to convince other relative and community members for ending Child Marriage.
