Empower 100 Child Brides in Pakistan

For a Pakistani woman seeking to travel on a motorcycle, socially sanctioned rules define how she may sit. Although unwritten and unspoken, these are inviolable: First, No girl or women may drive a motorcycle,  or clasp the handlebars with both hands. Second, although she can be a passenger behind a male driver, she cannot straddle the pillion seat. Instead, she must perch herself with both legs on the same side and hope she will not fall off. To sit otherwise is considered a violation of female modesty. 

Jaag Welfare Movement's vision for empowering Child Brides getting enhancement and flexibility in the implementation of the project. Shazia Ismail Khan senior instructor and women activist of Jaag Welfare Movement motivated these rural students of Vocational Center for Livelihood to learn Motor Bike. Shazia Ismail who is also a victim of Child Marriage and violence learned motorcycle and started to pick & drop her children to school. When Shazia Ismail told her story to the students then students wished for learning Motorcycle driving. 

Shazia Ismail who can drive the van also gave lessons to girls in the boundary of Vocational Center. All students showed a keen interest to learn driving a motorcycle.  Saima, Salma, Noreen, and Zainab learned motorcycle driving from Shazia Ismail in 3 days. 

 "We are very happy and feeling empowerment to learn driving Motor Bike while learning sewing and embroidery", said by students of Vocational Center for Livelihood established under the project of "Empower 100 Child Brides in Pakistan". 

"The motorcycle is so much easy and it will be a breakthrough in our lives for the marketing of our dresses which will be prepared in this center and we will not be dependent on others or middleman."  said by Saima. 

"I must say thank you to all of you who donated a lot for our skill development, empowerment, and entertainment like women festival, motorcycle driving etc." Said by Noreen with joy.
