Since the global pandemic of Covid 19 escalated, Cambodian Govt closed the schools on the 13 March. For the first 6 weeks, there was no school. Then local teachers decided to take the school session into the community and they set up lessons at the local community centers. They carefully social distanced the students and CCDO provided masks. We also provided soap to wash hands. The breakfast committee decided that they would take the prepared food from our canteens, so they could continue to serve breakfast and food for those in need.
The CCDO team has been going around to 94 villages and they have seen over 200,000 people to help spread the Covid 19 awareness message. "Wear Masks, Wash Hands and Social Distance." They distributed over 40,000 masks and 40,000 bars of soap. They have managed to keep the dreaded virus out of the rural communities.
The regular school will be starting on 1 November and the Empowerment of the Girl Campaign will restart then.
Much gratitude to donors and staff in this dark time.
