The 8th March is International Women's Day and it is taken very seriously in Cambodia.
The youth today, realize that there is gender equality in Cambodia. At CCDO, we never miss a chance to promote women and their unique culture. We hold discussions in each of the secondary school classrooms. We have also had parades through the villages. We remind the children that it is the role of the women that gives strength to society.
The slogan "You are more than Women" was voted on by the 8th & 9th grade classes. It is the women that is the glue for the Khmer Society and they are very proud of their strength. It is the grannies that take care of the little ones while the mothers work in the fields. It is encouraging to note that most of our scholarship students are girls who are blossoming into young ladies and are ready to take on many challenges.
