For 21 years, our organization has focused on the emotional well-being of children with cancer and catastrophic illnesses, and their families. Addressing a national gap, our interventions show positive impacts on patients. We provide individual psychological therapies for children, their siblings, and parents, led by a psychologist specialized in pediatric oncology and clinical psychologists. Join us to support the emotional health of children facing life-threatening diseases and their families.
Approximately 1,070 cases of childhood cancer are diagnosed in Ecuador every year, and only 1 in 2 children survive. When a child or adolescent receives a diagnosis like cancer, the right emotional support can become their greatest source of strength. Specialized psychological care not only improves adherence to treatment-it also offers hope and the reassurance that a caring community is walking beside them. No family should face cancer alone. We are here to accompany them, to support them, and
Cecilia Rivadeneira Foundation addresses the gap in comprehensive treatment by prioritizing emotional well-being. We provide individual therapies for children with catastrophic illnesses and their families, seeking psychological treatment to each patient's needs, aiming for at least one weekly session. Also, support groups for siblings, parents, and those in grief have been established, providing an additional space for active listening and understanding of their situations.
Studies show that children receiving comprehensive care, with a fundamental focus on the importance of emotional health, exhibit improved adherence to treatment. As they work on self-awareness, self-care, and self-esteem, these children enhance their social skills and integration into the post-treatment world, showcasing their resilience. This is a positive impact for the children as well as for their families.
