IBC continues its vital humanitarian mission in Ukraine, delivering water, hygiene kits, food, and basic necessities to those who need it most. Among our most impactful initiatives is our Mobile Bakery—a project we are incredibly proud of.
Operating from Monday to Friday, our dedicated staff starts baking in the early hours of the morning to ensure that fresh bread is ready for distribution by 8:00 AM.
The Impact by the Numbers
By distributing bread directly to beneficiaries and partnering with local organizations, we are expanding our reach and ensuring that fewer families go hungry.
Serhii’s Story: More Than Just Food
To truly understand the impact of your support, we would like to share the story of Serhii M. (58), a lifelong resident of Kherson. His words remind us that a loaf of bread is more than just food—it brings hope and fosters stability.
Q: Serhii, you’ve lived in Kherson your whole life. How has it changed since the war began? Serhii: It has changed dramatically. We live under incredibly difficult conditions with regular shelling and explosions. Every day, you wake up worrying about the safety of your family. We face frequent power outages and disruptions to water and communication. It is something you never fully get used to. The constant anxiety for your loved ones is the hardest part.
Q: How did you find out about the IBC bread distribution? Serhii: I heard about it from my neighbors. I saw people walking home with fresh, warm bread and decided to come myself. Since my first visit, I realized that people here are always treated with deep respect.
Q: Why is this specific assistance so important to you and your neighbors? Serhii: Food prices are skyrocketing, jobs are limited, and everyday expenses keep growing. Getting free, fresh bread allows us to save what little money we have for other absolute essentials.
Q: Your bread is actually baked in Mykolaiv and driven into Kherson three times a week. What does that mean to you? Serhii: It means everything. Knowing that people in another city are waking up early, baking this bread, and risking the drive to bring it to us is incredibly moving. It is about solidarity. It reminds us that we have not been forgotten and that we are not alone.
Q: What would you like to say to the mobile bakery team and the donors who support it? Serhii: I want to sincerely thank the entire team for their dedication. What you do is vital for frontline communities. Your support gives us bread and hope along with it. I simply wish for peaceful life without fear and to know our city has a future. Thank you to everyone who continues to stand with the people of Kherson.
How Your Donation Makes a Difference
Keeping the ovens hot and the delivery trucks moving into high-risk zones requires continuous resources. Beyond daily bread, families living in hard-to-reach, frontline areas, especially low income households and families with infants, are in dire need of the absolute basics.
Your donation directly funds the flour, ingredients, and fuel needed to bake and transport fifteen thousand five hundred loaves weekly. Furthermore, your support provides emergency relief supply kits filled with essential groceries, clean water, and hygiene products. It also secures critical childcare supplies like baby food, formula, and diapers for the most vulnerable families.
We are eternally grateful for your continuous support of our work and people in Ukraine.
