Burbank Temporary Aid Center is one of the few organizations in our area providing emergency shelter for families with children.
Recently, we have seen a rise in the number of homeless families. Often, they became homeless after a parent lost a job or had hours cut back. It is heartbreaking to see famlies living in thier cars, while trying to keep up with school, jobs, etc.
There aren't many shelters that accomodate families, and the ones that do welcome families have waiting lists. he emergency shelter provided by BTAC is at a local motel. These aren't Marriotts or Hiltons. In fact, most of us wouldn't even consider staying in them. But for a homeless family, they are magnificent. The emergency shelter can provide a bridge between being homeless and getting into a family-friendly shelter. An it gives the family a chance to shower, sleep in a comfortable bed and be out of the elements - if only for a few nights until they hear that space has opened up for them.
Your support of this program has been vital to BTAC being able to provide this service.
Thanks again for your support.
