Gaza Humanitarian Relief: Progress Update

By Christine Baer | Grants Manager

The humanitarian situation in Gaza remains extraordinarily difficult, with families continuing to face displacement, food insecurity, damaged infrastructure, and limited access to essential services. Since our last GlobalGiving update, All Hands & Hearts has continued adapting our response to meet urgent needs while supporting locally led efforts that help communities restore some measure of stability to daily life.

Working alongside local organizations, community leaders, health providers, educators, and families, our teams have continued delivering assistance across Gaza—from food and nutrition support and emergency shelter to medical aid and education for children whose learning has been severely disrupted. Recent progress also reflects an increasing emphasis on strengthening the community-led systems already helping people endure and recover.

Progress Since Our Last Update

In recent months, All Hands & Hearts has continued delivering essential assistance while expanding support through trusted local partners and community-led initiatives across Gaza. Recent progress includes:

  • Shelter and essential household support: During the first six months of 2026, AH&H supported more than 22,000 vulnerable households across our humanitarian programming. Shelter assistance included 20,000 emergency shelter solutions, alongside tarps, tents, blankets, water containers, solar lights, and hygiene supplies. More recent shelter work has paired distributions with household assessments to help prioritize families facing the greatest need.
  • Food and nutrition: Five supported community kitchens were serving approximately 9,840 people each day, contributing to more than 206,000 family-sized meals, while fresh food kits reached approximately 34,000 people. AH&H has also continued supporting therapeutic nutrition for children, with more than 1.16 million meal equivalents provided to 36,894 people—approximately 80% of them children.
  • Locally led assistance: Partnerships with community organizations, including women-led kitchens, are helping sustain food preparation and distribution within communities. AH&H has provided practical resources—from food and supplies to fuel for cooking—so these locally rooted efforts can continue reaching families.
  • Health and medical support: AH&H continued moving essential medicines and medical supplies to trusted health partners serving clinics and hospitals across Gaza, helping maintain access to care despite severe pressure on the health system.
  • Education:100 Classroom in a Box kits have reached 31 community-led learning centers serving 23,738 children across Gaza City, the Middle Area, and Khan Younis. The kits provide approximately three months of basic classroom supplies, helping teachers create functioning learning environments for children whose education has been repeatedly disrupted.

A Classroom in a Box

For children in Gaza, returning to learning is about more than lessons. A safe, functioning classroom can restore routine, connection, and a sense of normalcy in the midst of prolonged disruption.

Since our last update, All Hands & Hearts has delivered 100 Classroom in a Box kits to 31 community-led learning centers, reaching 23,738 children across Gaza City, the Middle Area, and Khan Younis. Each kit contains essential classroom materials—providing teachers and students with approximately three months of supplies and helping turn temporary learning spaces into places where children can once again gather, learn, and connect.

The model is intentionally simple and adaptable. By placing practical learning materials directly into the hands of community-led learning centers, AH&H can support education where children are already gathering, while responding to changing conditions on the ground. For children whose education has been repeatedly interrupted, these classrooms offer something both practical and deeply important: the opportunity to keep learning.

Thank You

Across Gaza, needs continue to change, and our response continues to adapt with them. Through emergency shelter, food and nutrition, health assistance, and education, All Hands & Hearts is working alongside local partners and communities to meet urgent needs while helping restore the routines and connections of everyday life.

We are deeply grateful to the GlobalGiving community for continuing to stand with families in Gaza. Your support gives us the flexibility to respond where needs are greatest and to keep showing up as those needs evolve.
