Severe military escalation in Taiz has forced over 917 families to flee their homes in just 48 hours. GEFD is on the ground providing urgent life-saving food, clean drinking water, and emergency shelter kits to displaced families and host communities.
Due to the sudden military escalation in Maqbanah and Jabal Habashi districts, at least 917 families have been forcibly displaced within 48 hours. These families had to flee abruptly, leaving behind their belongings and basic necessities. They are currently seeking refuge in relatively safer areas like Al-Ma'afer and Jabal Habashi. However, the host communities are overwhelmed and lack the infrastructure to support this sudden influx. The displaced families, particularly vulnerable groups
Green Empowerment for Development (GEFD) will provide immediate emergency relief to the displaced families and host communities. Our intervention focuses on delivering emergency shelter materials, urgent food assistance, and safe drinking water along with hygiene supplies. We will prioritize the most vulnerable groups, including children, women, older persons, and persons with disabilities who have lost their homes. By targeting the reception areas in Jabal Habashi and Al-Ma'afer,
This immediate intervention will not only save lives today but also prevent a prolonged humanitarian catastrophe by reducing the long-term human cost of the crisis. Securing the basic survival needs of the displaced families will stabilize their situation and protect the most vulnerable groups, such as children, women, and the elderly. Furthermore, by supporting the reception areas, the project will strengthen the resilience of host communities.
