The outreach efforts of the Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology has continued on to the second phase of relief, with a focus on building temporary shelters for victims of the earthquake.
This past weekend Himalayan Cataract Project co-founder Dr. Sanduk Ruit led a group from the Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology to Sindhupalchowk, one of the districts that was greatly devastated by the earthquake. The team brought the people of the community 65 temporary shelters, with plans to complete a total of 100 shelters within the coming days. The shelters will be of great help to these families throughout the monsoon season, which typically lasts from June to August. Tilganga will reach out to additional communities to provide thse temporary shelters.
The next phase of relief will be providing permanent houses for those who lost their homes.
