Dear GlobalGiving Donors and Team,

We are incredibly grateful for your ongoing support as we continue our mission to combat malnutrition and hunger among children in the famine-hit Teso region. Your generosity remains a lifeline for many families during this challenging season

Project Progress & Key Accomplishments

Over the past three months, your donations have allowed us to achieve the following milestones:

• Nutritional Support: Distributed emergency food packs consisting of maize flour, beans, and cooking oil to 50 vulnerable households.

• School Feeding: Supported 3 local primary schools with bulk food supplies, ensuring that 450 children received at least one nutritious porridge meal every school day.

• Health Monitoring: Conducted basic health and malnutrition screenings for children in our target villages, identifying and referring severe cases to local health centers for therapeutic feeding.

Impact Story: A Glimmer of Hope for Akello

To understand the real-world impact of your support, we want to share the story of 7-year-old Akello. When our team first visited her village, Akello was suffering from severe lethargy due to a lack of regular meals, forcing her to miss school frequently. Thanks to the emergency food rations provided by this project, Akello's family has had stable meals for the past two months. Today, Akello is healthy, smiling, and back in the classroom with her friends. Her mother shares, "Without this food, I did not know how we would survive the dry spell. Thank you for remembering our children."

Challenges Faced

The Teso region has experienced prolonged dry spells over the last quarter, which has driven up local food prices and increased the number of families seeking assistance. This inflation means our budget does not stretch as far as it used to. However, we are optimizing our procurement by buying in bulk directly from farmers in neighboring regions to keep costs down.

Next Steps & Future Plans

In the upcoming quarter, we plan to:

• Expand our reach to 150 more families who are currently on our waiting list.

• Introduce drought-resistant vegetable seed distribution to help families set up small kitchen gardens for long-term food security.

The Hunger Alarming Situation- Teso!

The Urgency!

In Teso, second rains failed. Cassava dried, sorghum didn't grow. In Aparis, 50 families we support have eaten one meal per day since September.

Last week I visited Akellos family. Mother Atim (widow, HIV), 4 children. No food stored. Youngest, Moses 3 years, cries at night for porridge. Grandmother says "We used to have 2 granaries, now empty floor."

What $25 does this month:

- 25kg posho + 5kg beans = 1 family eats for 2 weeks

- Soap + salt + cooking oil

We distributed 15 bags last month from your past donations — thank you to 102 donors who gave.

We need 25 more bags before Nov 15 — $625 total. Can you help one family for $25?

I will post photos of distribution next week from village with your names called.

The Government recent efforts!

Under the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) has just distributed posho and beans, in Kumi district to only 8 most hungry people per village and yet majority are registered and they came to the distribution center and never got anything. 10kgs posho,7kgs of beans per recipients.

The truth is, hunger is real and many people, households, children, elderly people are most affected, dying please help and support always! Amen!

Thank you once again for standing with the children, vulnerable, child households of Teso. Your support is changing lives every single day.

With gratitude,

Aparis CDP
