HELP UKRAINE - Humanitarian relief in Chernivtsi

Heavy strikes across Ukraine persisted throughout August, further worsening the dire humanitarian crisis. Active combat continuously targeted relief infrastructure, while deteriorating safety conditions posed heightened risks to both local residents and aid workers, particularly near active battlegrounds. Recurring raids on depots severely disrupted logistics, forcing continuous adjustments to transport routes and supply chains. Overall, the conflict's human toll remains immense, with nearly 10.8 million individuals requiring urgent emergency aid nationwide.

Beyond the physical destruction, millions remain displaced, and government-controlled territories have experienced a significant population decline since the start of the war. A critical situation is anticipated for the upcoming winter regarding heating and electricity access. Humanitarian workers continue to demonstrate remarkable resilience, yet they express deep concern over the mounting burden of these challenges. Sustained international aid remains essential to meet ongoing humanitarian needs, especially as the cold season approaches.

At our scale, we maintain our dedicated support for the most vulnerable populations including at-risk children and adolescents, internally displaced persons (IDPs), individuals with disabilities, and women. Throughout the summer, in coordination with our local Ukrainian partner, we continued delivering recreational activities, including volleyball, football, cycling trips, trekking, swimming pool visits, and outdoor picnics as well as psychosocial support for minors and adults with disabilities. 

September, 1st, marks the first day of the new school year. 
With it, we are resuming our academic support services for vulnerable children, providing speech therapy sessions, after-school homework assistance, and the distribution of essential back-to-school kits, reaching more than 300 beneficiaries.
