Our current response supports families affected by severe flooding in Hinthada Township, Ayeyarwady Region, where approximately 1,756 households across 40 villages have been affected. We are providing essential food supplies, including rice and cooking oil, and using boats and local networks to reach communities isolated by floodwaters.
Severe flooding in Hinthada Township, Myanmar, has affected approximately 1,756 households across 40 villages. Homes, farmland, roads and livelihoods have been inundated, leaving some communities accessible only by boat. Families face urgent shortages of food, clean water and basic necessities as markets and livelihoods are disrupted. Immediate support is needed to provide rice and cooking oil while families wait for floodwaters to recede and begin recovery.
Baan Unrak Foundation and local partners are providing emergency food assistance to 1,756 flood-affected households in Hinthada. Each US$45 package of rice and cooking oil supports a family for about one month. Supplies are transported by truck and boat to affected villages and distributed directly to families. Our local partner is already on the ground, with the first 100 households assisted. Further funding will help us reach more families.
Emergency food assistance provides immediate stability, allowing families to preserve limited resources for clean water, medicine, shelter, transport and home repairs. It gives communities time to recover and rebuild as floodwaters recede. By working through established local partners and volunteers, the project also strengthens local networks, experience and logistical capacity to respond quickly to future emergencies in Myanmar.
