Emergency Food and Essential Relief for Flood-Affected Families in Myanmar

Severe flooding in Ayeyarwady Region, Myanmar, disrupted homes, livelihoods, transportation, and access to food. Many families were isolated by rising floodwaters and unable to safely reach markets or obtain basic necessities.

With support from WE HELP YOU TO FLY, Baan Unrak Foundation, together with local partners Green Island School and AMUTEL Myanmar, provided emergency assistance to 830 vulnerable households across 9 villages in Lemyethna and Hinthada Townships.

In Lemyethna Township, 500 households received rice, cooking oil, eggs, beans, noodles, mosquito nets, sleeping mats, and torches, providing essential support for approximately one week.

In Hinthada Township, 330 households received rice and cooking oil to support their basic food needs for approximately one month.

The relief was delivered with the help of 15 local volunteers and 17 boats, allowing supplies to reach communities that could not be safely accessed by road.

The assistance helped families reduce hunger, prepare daily meals, and avoid dangerous travel through floodwaters. It also provided greater safety, dignity, and reassurance during a difficult and uncertain period.

While this emergency response reached 830 households, many families continue to face damaged homes, lost livelihoods, food shortages, and limited access to markets. Continued support is needed as communities begin the long process of recovery.
