Rebuilding Our Beloved Research Camp

By Stephanie | Project Manager, Elephants for Africa

Camp remains a place of learning.

Dear GlobalGiving Community,

We are profoundly grateful for your support and generosity towards the rebuild of our much-loved bush camp. Thanks to your contributions, we have made significant strides towards our funding goals, enabling us to undertake the most critical and necessary repairs.

With the funds raised, we have successfully covered the costs for several key aspects of the project. This includes bringing in an extra storage container, as well as stabilizing and revamping the sewage system and main living area. These essential improvements have already set us on the path to creating a safer and more functional camp environment.

We have been in close contact with our contractor to discuss the next steps. However, we have encountered a few challenges along the way. Building supply costs have increased since we were quoted, and unfortunately, the shop that supplies our materials has lost our materials list. As a result, we will experience some delays as our contractor needs to conduct another site inspection to reassess and recreate the materials list.

Despite these unexpected delays and challenges, we remain optimistic and committed to moving forward with this project. Your support has been instrumental in bringing us this far, and we are confident that, together, we will overcome these obstacles.

Thank you once again for your support. We look forward to sharing more progress updates with you as we continue to rebuild our research camp.
