By Katie Thompson | Program Director Elephants Alive
It's been a busy period for our Elephant Shepherds team. Aubrey and Linhle have taken the programme out into the community and beyond, presenting our work at a careers day, inspiring the next generation to see conservation as a real career path, and at a further public presentation, helping spread awareness of what human-elephant coexistence looks like on the ground.
Behind the scenes, the team has been working round the clock on active elephant mitigation, responding to movements and helping keep both people and elephants safe. Our EarthRanger monitoring system continues to perform brilliantly, giving the team real-time insight that makes this rapid response possible.
Looking ahead, we're hopeful about employing new shepherds soon, an expansion that will let us extend this vital coexistence work to more communities. Thank you, as always, for making this work possible.
