I am back in Mae Sot, Thailand, right on the border with Myanmar, about to launch two photo/video workshops with Joy House Community Art Center and Social Action for Women and Children (SAW). Mae Sot is full of Burmese fleeing from the dangerous and precarious life in their home country. The MY STORY photo project gives a few of them a safe space to make something of their own and tell their stories through a lens.
But since cell phones are ubiquitous here and extremely affordable, the MSppa Board and I have decided to retire this project. We have sufficient funding from family and friends to carry on without asking for dollars that are needed elsewhere.
