On the island of La Gonave, off the coast of Haiti, 20% of children die before they reach their 5th birthday. Without enough protein, young children are more likely to succumb to disease. Last spring, with support from donors like you, GreaterGood.org launched an Egg Laying Hen Program to help ease hunger in the village of Matenwa, located in La Gonave.
Since April 2014, the hen project has continued to grow and is now feeding children from neighboring villages. However, because the soil on La Gonave is comprised primarily of limestone and is nutrient poor, it has been difficult to grow food to feed the chickens. As we continue to find a solution to this problem, donations to the program are greatly needed and greatly apprciated, since we must buy and ship chicken feed to La Gonave. Our goal is for this wonderful project to be self sustaining, and we have no doubt that, given time, it will be.
Thank you for making a difference.
