In recent months we’ve been working on an entire tropical forest curriculum to present to U.S. and U.K. schools, focusing on students of all ages. One of our volunteers has been working diligently creating a new educational website for LRFF. Part of that project will be to provide hands on experience either via a field trip to La Reserva, Costa Rica or working in conjunction with us via internet on a reforestation project.
We all feel that putting our hand out just doesn’t cut the mustard all of the time and our thought is that to receive we must give something in return. This is our way of giving to the future generations and consequently will bring a great awareness of the importance of the world’s tropical forests, restoring them to provide habitat and biodiversity for the myriad life we share this planet with and a solution to climate change.
This project, Educational Reforestation, is a local educational project in La Fortuna near the Arenal Volcano. It is a very small project, 500 trees, and needs very little funding to be implemented. It will provide a lifetime education about how to develop and implement a restoration project to the students involved and their children because they will be able to watch the forest grow over time.
We have included this project in our end of year fundraising drive as a priority. With just a few donations we can plant this project in January.
